- ¼ Cup / 55g / ½ Stick Butter
- ¼ Cup / 30g Flour
- 1 Cup / 250ml Milk
- ¼ Cup Parmesan Cheese
- ½ Cup Cheddar Cheese
- Mozzarella Cheese Slices
- Crusty Bread
- ¼ Cup Mayonnaise
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the flour and stir for 2-3 minutes until it is combined and cooked.
- Add the milk to the pan in 4 steps, stirring constantly, until well blended. Turn off the heating and add the cheese in two steps. Make sure that the first batch has completely melted before you add the second batch.
- Cut bread into 2 cm wide slices. Add a few teaspoons of mayonnaise to each slice and place it in a saucepan for 2-3 minutes over medium heat.
- Once the French toast is ready, remove it from the pan and spread the mayonnaise on the other side.
- Turn the slices of bread so that the roast side is facing up. Put 2-3 tablespoons of cheese sauce on each slice of bread and spread evenly around the edges. Cover a slice of mozzarella and cover with another slice of bread.
- Put the sandwich in the saucepan over medium heat and cook on each side for about 4 to 5 minutes until the bread is grilled and the cheese has melted.
- Slice in half and enjoy.
Notes
The cheese sauce stays in the fridge for about three days.
Add bacon or jalapeño pieces to the cheese sauce to improve the taste.
