Rice pudding, Cold or hot?

If you wondering whether you should eat Rice pudding Cold or Hot, we’ve got the answer. It comes down to what you like and what you are used to. You can choose whatever you like, but every case has its own characteristics.

The only thing is that the rice pudding will thicken when it’s cold, which may be better to add more liquid when you make it.

How to make Rice Pudding in Instant Pot:

In the inner pot, add rice and rinse it over cold water, and don’t forget to rub the rice with your hands, it’s very important.

Add the cinnamon stick to the pot and mix it for a little bit. Then close the lid, and pressure cook at high pressure for a period of 5 minutes. After that let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes.

Mix the eggs with sea salt, vanilla and sugar during the time when the rice is cooking. Pour the milk to the mixture and mix very well.

Add the milk mixture to the cooked rice and bring it to a simmer. Use a spatula to stir occasionally until the rice pudding heats up.

For a more creamy texture add a tablespoon of unsalted butter. When the rice pudding becomes as you like ( smooth, thick or creamy), turn off the heat.

The last step is sprinkling cinnamon powder on top with some raisins. Then serve the rice pudding hot or cold.

Some pro Tips for making Instant Pot rice pudding:

The following tips and tricks will take your cooking skills to the next level. Apply whatever tip you think it’s easy for you.

The first thing to do is measuring the exact amount of Rice to water ratio. Otherwise, the rice will not be cooked perfectly, which can affect the final result of the dish.

Many cooking experts recommend rinsing the rice in order to make the perfect Rice pudding.

You can use Cinnamon powder if you don’t have a cinnamon stick.
The pudding thickens when it cools. Add more milk to thin it if you want.

If you like more sweetness, add agave or maple syrup, it tastes delicious.

In case you don’t want to add flavor like cinnamon, you can omit it. Though, you can flavor the pudding with chai spice or pumpkin spice.

You don’t have to add just raisins to the pudding, cranberries or nuts are also a good addition, they make the dish rich and festive.

It’s possible to double the number of ingredients if you need to serve the pudding for a large group of people.

The amount of sugar you use depends on your needs. However, if you want a healthy pudding, try to sweet the dish with a natural resource of sugar such as honey, fruits, or maple syrup.

The cooking time of rice depends on how you like it. If you want the rice crunchy a little bit, cook for 3 minutes.

Serving the rice pudding:

As we mentioned before, rice pudding could be served warm or cold, and that depends on your preferences.

Eating the pudding warm is very comforting, but if you plan to eat it cold, add more liquid to the instant pot before cooking, because the pudding will thicken as it cools.
