Ingredients
Scale
- 2 to 2½ lbs chicken breast (cut into 1-inch pieces, either 2 large or 4 medium boneless, skinless chicken breasts)
- ½ cup corn starch
- 1 cup filtered water
- ⅓ cup low sodium soy sauce (or gluten-free soy sauce)
- ⅓ cup honey (or more to taste)
- 1 to 2 Tbsp Sriracha sauce (or adjusted for desired spice level)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced, about 1 Tbsp)
- 2 Tbsp corn starch
- 2 Tbsp cold water
- Sesame seeds and chives (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Combine the filtered water, low sodium soy sauce, honey, Sriracha sauce, and minced garlic in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reaches a boil.
- In a small bowl, mix together 2 tablespoons of corn starch with 2 tablespoons of cold water until fully dissolved. Add this mixture to the saucepan and stir until the sauce thickens, then lower the heat.
- Place the chicken pieces in a large zip-top bag and sprinkle with corn starch. Seal the bag and shake until the chicken is evenly coated.
- Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease the bottom with oil. Add the chicken in a single layer and sauté for a few minutes on each side until fully cooked. Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
- After the chicken is cooked, remove from heat. Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and stir to ensure it is well coated. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if desired.
- If desired, serve the chicken over white rice and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
Notes
TECHNIQUE TIP: Adjust the Sriracha sauce to control the heat level, adding more for a spicier kick.
