  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs large shrimp
  • 1 Tbsp Old Bay Seasoning (plus 1 Tbsp salt for the cooking water)
  • 2/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp butter (plus more to grease the pan)
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 4 oz shredded mozzarella
  • 4 oz shredded medium cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F. Use butter to grease a 2 1/2 quart casserole dish or skillet.
  2. In a large pot, bring water to a boil, then stir in 1 Tbsp salt and 1 Tbsp Old Bay Seasoning. Add the shrimp and cook for 30 seconds or until they turn opaque and are fully cooked. Use a strainer to remove the shrimp and transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Allow them to cool for a few minutes, then drain any excess water or use a paper towel to absorb any liquid at the bottom of the bowl.
  3. Add the mayonnaise, garlic powder, and black pepper to the shrimp, stirring to coat them evenly. Sprinkle the cheese over the mixture and stir again to combine. Pour the shrimp mixture into the prepared casserole dish, spreading it out evenly.
  4. Melt 1 Tbsp of butter in a separate bowl or measuring cup, then mix in 1/2 cup of bread crumbs until they are thoroughly moistened. Evenly distribute the crumb mixture over the shrimp.
  5. Bake the dish uncovered at 375°F for 13-15 minutes, or until the center reaches 145°F on an instant-read thermometer. Broil for an additional 1 to 2 minutes to achieve a golden brown topping. Let it rest for 15 minutes before serving. This dish can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature, making it a great option for transporting to gatherings.

Notes

TECHNIQUE TIP: Boil shrimp briefly in seasoned water for just 30 seconds to achieve perfect doneness without overcooking.

STORAGE: Store leftover shrimp casserole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

SUBSTITUTION: Replace Old Bay Seasoning with Cajun spice for a different flavor profile.
