Ingredients
Scale
- 2¼ cups (270g) all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (480ml) milk
- ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Start by preheating the waffle iron. If adjustable, select a higher heat setting for a crispier texture.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt using a whisk. In a separate medium bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla until well blended. Gradually pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring just until incorporated.
- Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron with butter or cooking spray. Pour approximately 1/3 cup of batter into the hot iron for each waffle, adjusting based on your specific waffle maker’s size.
- Cook the waffles until they achieve a golden brown color. Transfer them to a wire rack to maintain their crispness until serving. Enjoy them warm with maple syrup, butter, or your preferred toppings.
Notes
TECHNIQUE TIP: Use room temperature eggs for better texture, but cold eggs will still work fine.
STORAGE: Freeze leftover waffles in a single layer, then store in a zip-top bag for up to 2 months.
SUBSTITUTION: For a lighter flavor, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
