  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 10 waffles 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2¼ cups (270g) all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups (480ml) milk
  • ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Start by preheating the waffle iron. If adjustable, select a higher heat setting for a crispier texture.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt using a whisk. In a separate medium bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla until well blended. Gradually pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring just until incorporated.
  3. Lightly grease the preheated waffle iron with butter or cooking spray. Pour approximately 1/3 cup of batter into the hot iron for each waffle, adjusting based on your specific waffle maker’s size.
  4. Cook the waffles until they achieve a golden brown color. Transfer them to a wire rack to maintain their crispness until serving. Enjoy them warm with maple syrup, butter, or your preferred toppings.

Notes

TECHNIQUE TIP: Use room temperature eggs for better texture, but cold eggs will still work fine.

STORAGE: Freeze leftover waffles in a single layer, then store in a zip-top bag for up to 2 months.

SUBSTITUTION: For a lighter flavor, substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
